Shelter Update – January 11th

The shelter here at Bell Road remains open every Thursday night until the end of March and we are so grateful to all those who have volunteered to help in so many ways. We have had some good evenings so far and are getting to know our guests better. The evenings are happy with lots of conversations and often a game or two – even if rules are often disputed! Some of the men have begun to pick up a little work or are being helped with a number of different issues by the project and our case worker.

Its certainly not too late if you would like to volunteer to help. You can be fitted into the rota for welcoming and spending time with the guests on a Thursday evening, help with cooking meals, washing or setting up the beds – or the more antisocial hours roles of the overnight shift or servingbreakfast. We’d love even more of you to be involved and join the team.

Please speak to Dinnie or Margaret if you would like to volunteer.

From next weekend we will again be ‘selling’ decorated plates at a suggested donation of £3 – which is approximately the cost of the food fir one person. Our children and young people have been busy decorating the plates.
