Getting Messy for Christmas

Yesterday we had our first Messy Church. During the afternoon we took part in different craft activities to make us think about Christmas. There was a picture of angels and sheep with plenty of glitter. A manger where we were encouraged to write something we would like to say to Jesus.  Racing Angels to talk about how God delivered messages.  Edible nativity scenes to tell the story of Christmas. All this was finished off with a giant Christmas wreath in the doorway with words to describe Christmas!

This was followed by some games including one involving dashing around the room to various locations in the Christmas story and another game involving sneaking past a sleeping Herod without waking him.

At the end of the afternoon, we heard a story and shared dinner of jacket potatoes, beans and sausages. Finished off with jelly and ice cream!

It was great fun and certainly a different way to do church on a Sunday. We are looking forward to running another one next year so make sure you get the date in the diary as soon as it is available!
